Surgery has been used as a penis enlargement method for several years already, but the techniques used to lengthen the penis are still to be perfected. It is true that surgeons have gained experience and technique since their first attempts when the procedure was considered to be extremely hazardous, however the penile lengthening surgery is still risky and prone to some unwanted consequences.

How is the Penile Lengthening Surgery Implemented?

The most common surgical penis lengthening technique is implemented by cutting the suspensory ligaments that serve to support the penis. This allows the penile shaft to drop forward and extend out, which visually elongates the penis. Additional plastic surgery is performed in order to provide skin to cover the acquired new length.

Penis Lengthening Surgery Results

The most noticeable length gains can be viewed in flaccid state. Unfortunately in erect state the length gains are often unsatisfactory; moreover some men report no lengthening at all. There are even cases of shortening due to fibrosis where the penile tissue shrink and toughen. Of course undoubtedly some men achieve better results than others, but generally the erect penis size after a penile lengthening surgery of this type is only slightly bigger or about the same size as before.

Penis Lengthening Surgery Risks

The lack of significant size increase of the erect penis is not the only problem of penis lengthening surgery. To start with, the penis could appear to arise from the scrotum rather than the abdominal wall. Additionally, there can be a significant reduction in the angle of erection resulting in a penis that points down when erect. And those are just the cosmetic drawbacks of penile lengthening surgery. Without the suspensory ligament to support it the penis can shift around during sex which may lead to some unpleasant accidents.
